Earth and Sky

This morning

gowns

of green spruce

rise into the ash.

Cattail seeds

drift

from the edge

of the pond.

A hawk

soars

into the mist

circling the rise.

We take the land

like

it's ours.

Like we are

earth and sky

and rain.

Like we are the

end

or beginning.
