I BELONG TO THE WIND: poetry for children

 The Sun Is a Gardener

Days are gold when sun comes up

and shines into a buttercup,

and slips between the rows of corn

and where the lady's slipper's worn.

The sun is a gardener under the blue

shimmering beads of morning dew,

and tending to her new foxgloves

she finds a ray for mourning doves.

Film Noir

this film

is a ghost

up on the screen

images flow

from a nitrate stream

deep pockets

of black and grays

slide

from a silver

revolver

The Maltese Falcon

The Maltese Falcon (from 1941
Humphrey Bogart and Mary Astor)
marked the beginning of Film Noir.
If you get a chance to watch it -
you won’t be disappointed.

The Visitors

The Visitors

in the middle of the night
they wake her

she remember pieces of her past
tall grass in the yard
a house
full of light
the somber sounds
slipping
through transom
windows
and her mother’s
garden dress

how they wander
through her world
when they get up from
their bleak beds
and allow her to surface

how they never
know
they are dead
