Happy Halloween! I hope you are enjoying your autumn!

I would like to take this time to thank all of the people who have supported my books this year. Thank you so very much. I’m very grateful!  Especially Autumn Poetry: A Collection for the Season - I’m hoping it got you into an autumn frame of mind!

All Hallows’Eve
Dorothea Tanning

Be perfect, make it otherwise.
Yesterday is torn in shreds.
Lightening’s thousand sulfur eyes
Rip apart the breathing beds.
Hear bones crack and pulverize.
Doom creeps in on rubber treads.
Countless overwrought housewives,
Minds unraveling like threads,
Try lipstick shades to tranquilize
Fears of age and general dreads.
Sit tight, be perfect, swat the spies,
Don’t take faucets for fountainheads.
Drink tasty antidotes. Otherwise
You and the werewolf: newlyweds.

The Uninvited

You know I love classic movies.

I have a movie recommendation tonight for this spooky month of October. Released in 1944 and one of the highest grossing films of that year - The Uninvited. (A ghost story.) It stars Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey, and Gail Russell.  It is absolutely one of my favorite classic films! You can catch it on TCM. Yes! I recommend!

Irish Hollow Cemetery

Irish Hollow Cemetery - A Resting Place for Lives Well Lived.

Except for the maintenance of a few family stones, this cemetery has largely been forgotten. Located near Rockland, MI (a once booming mining town located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula) -  many headstones are buried under years of overgrown brush and moss.  But the headstones are absolutely beautiful - and the people who once lived there were prosperous.

7 p.m.

At dusk

the house is still

except the sound

of silverware on plates

and ice

in tall green glasses.

Outside the wind

lifts branches

of the trees

that line the drive.

A two lane road

drifts past alone.

There is no path

to wander back

into the past she realizes

as she cuts

the apple pie.
