Sleeping Trees
A forest dark
in autumn night
alone with all
the milky light
of stars
across a universe
across a universe
will pause and know
her woods
could speak of snow.
And rest
was not so long ago
when moon
above a winter freeze
wrapped the boughs
of sleeping trees
with sterling blankets
lined in ease.
